What is pranayama and and its introduction
Pranayama is not a physical object. We cannot see it with our physical eye. We can sense its existence form the process of inhalation (drawing air inside through nostril), retention (retaining the air after inhalation) and exhalation (blowing out air through nostril). That is by respiration (The act of respiring, Inhaling and exhaling, breathing).
Pranayama is single vital energy but appears to be many because of its varied functions. Pranayama is fourth limb of the eight limbs of Raja yoga.
Prana is subtle vital energy which connects body and mind. Body and mind are not directly connected. The control of prana is stoppage of inhalation and exhalation when we need.
Prana is sukshma and breath is sthula. We can control prana by controlling breath. The vibrations of prana produce thoughts in the mind. There should not any strain while practicing pranayama. Prana sits in heart. The movement child conceived the prana starts. We can see, walk, hear, sense and think with the help of prana.
