What is hyper-v, bare metal and host based virtualization
Yesterday my brother asked me to enquire about hyper-v supported mother board. I enquired about it in the computer hardware market. They informed me that they don’t know the technology. I visited Intel website to know about this technology. From Intel website I found that Intel manufactured processors with technology called Virtualization.
I also enquired in Hyderabad market about the same processor which will have advanced technologies like Virtualization and Intel 64. The available processor is Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q8400 (4M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) and the supported mother boards available are DG41TY, DG41RQ, DG45ID. Approximate cost of the above processor is 15500 INR or 320 USD. And Mother board costs are 3850, 3200 and 6500 respectively.
I called my brother and informed the same to him. I also asked him why you need this latest technology computer. Then he told that he has to practice for the exam called VMware Certified Professional (VI3)
As per his information and my research in VMware, This is software which will be used to create virtual machines on single computer. That means if we have one computer with good processor, ram and hard disk we can install many operating systems and can be utilized at a time. We can use these computers for practicing networking, online server client programs. We have to install one operating system in a computer. We have to install VMware after installation of operating system. We have to create Virtual machines using VMware software. This is called host based virtualization.
In present market most of the enterprises are deploying most advanced and production-proven hypervisors. virtualize even the most resource-intensive applications with the hypervisors that set the industry standard for reliability, performance and cross-platform support.
VMware ESX and VMware ESXi are bare-metal hypervisors, meaning they install directly on top of the physical server and partition it into multiple virtual machines that can run simultaneously, sharing the physical resources of the underlying server. Each virtual machine represents a complete system, with processors, memory, networking, storage and BIOS, and can run an unmodified operating system and applications.
We can run multiple operating systems on a single server with reliability including Windows, Linux, Netware, Solaris and more.
I will give you more information, keep watching this blog.
