TMS Configuration explanation using an example
Leave a comment »
TMS configuration can be explained in better way with the help of an example. So that the following systems are ready and configured in network (LAN) and communicating each other. Following are three systems with different system identifiers
- Development ECC 6.0 System SID: DEV
- Quality ECC 6.0 System SID: QAS
- Production ECC 6.0 System SID: PRO
All three systems should be in LAN and should be able communicate with each other to configure TMS. Following are the steps to configure TMS (Transport Management System)
- Delete the TMS in all systems if it is already configured.
- You can delete TMS using DICO T-Code
- Login to the DEV system and Configure as Domain Controller (DEV system) in client 000 with the user DDIC or any other similar user with same authorization profile.
- You can use the T-code STMS to configure TMS.
- As soon as you type STMS and hit enter, the system will ask you to define same system as domain controller. Click Yes
- Login to QAS through 000 client and ddic user and hit T-code STMS
- Select other configuration when you get the message to define domain controller and select the DEV as domain controller
- Login to PRO through 000 client and ddic user and hit T-code STMS
- Select other configuration when you get the message to define domain controller and select the DEV as domain controller
- Now login to the domain controller DEV and Hit STMS. Select Systems – Click overview.
- You will find other systems are waiting to be approved to be a part of this domain
- You have to approve them to make Quality and production systems as part of domain
- Configure transport root from domain controller and distribute the configuration to all the systems in domain.
- TMS configured and configuration distributed to all the systems
- Now You can transport roles using transport requests
