INDIA THE GREAT
India is a great country with different cultures and traditions that has different kinds of religions and languages. India has a huge population and as known, it is the second most populated country in the world and also the seventh largest country in the world. it has a great influence on the historical backgrounds. there are also other two names for India probably a less known outside India; BHARAT and HINDUSTAN. though there exists different backgrounds of India as mentioned above, the people of India follow the only path i,e unity.
Religions Of India: India is the birth place of some religions, which even exist today in the world. Along with these religions there are some more non-indian religions which are followed by our Indians. The most dominant religion in India is Hinduism This was developed about 500 years ago. After Hinduism other two religions developed in India namely Buddhism and Jainism. these three religions belong to the ancient period. there are few other religions which are followed by the Indians with percentage given;
HINDUISM-about 82%
ISLAM-about 12%
CHRISTIANITY-about 2.5%
SIKKISM-about 2%
BUDDHISM-about 0.7%
JAINISM-about 0.5%
ZOROASTRIANISM-about 0.01%
JUDAISM-about 0.0005%
Caste System In India: In ancient period, the people were divided into separate close communities. These communities are nothing but the caste. The origin of the caste system is from Hinduism. As a result; the caste system has effected the entire Indian society and again divided into sub castes. However the caste problem still exists in India.
Languages In India:There are many languages spoken in different parts of India. These languages mainly belongs to two families namely Aryan and Dravidian. The languages spoken in south belongs to dravidian family and languages spoken in north belongs to the Aryan family. In earlier stage of indian history other languages were spoken. In ancient period the holy books of Hinduism was written in Sanskrit language. Sanskrit was the prominent language in ancient period. After the ancient period all these languages came into existence. they are as follows;
