When the great employees of MEA (Ministry of External Affair) lose the documents of applicants they find no other option to hide their mistake. Surprisingly this status will remain in the website for about 1 year and after that again this status will be changed in to 'File ref. # is either wrong or not found'. The best way to solve this problem is to visit RPO and fix an appointment with the passport officials. At the same time bring all the documents and fill up a duplicate application form and submit. I have emailed them and called some phone number found on some website. Somebody lifted the phone and told that the numbers have been allocated and will bedispatched in 3 weeks time. He was angry on me because I have not applied in tatkal and still want to check the status. I was eager about my status because of the same junk message. I am watching the same junk message since 3 weeks. The same thing happend with my wife's passport. They did not release until I called them.
