How to get full refund of the cancelled train due to heavy fog

I have booked a ticket through manual method at Secunderabad railway reservation counter. The ticket worth is 2070. We have planned to travel on January 9, 2010 in AP Express. When we reached the station on the day we reserved, heard a announcement that the AP Express was canceled due to heavy fog near New Delhi. Finally we reached Nagpur by Qualis. After came back from the tour, I went to railway reservation counter to cancel the ticket to get refund for the canceled train. They informed me that the refund can be issued only when we apply at railway nilayam secunderabad.

I went to rail nilayam and submitted the tickets and collected the acknowledgment for the same. I have been waiting for the payment from the railway department. Finally I got one registered post on November 25th, 2010  from the railway department. There was a letter inside the cover addressed to Hyderabad station master.

I went to Hyderabad (Nampally) Railway station and met station master. He told me that to contact commercial department TC. I met her and shown my ID card. She asked me to sign on the backside of the letter. I did as per her instruction and submitted back to her. She has mentioned my details in her record and asked me to contact the counter no.1 at Nampally. I went to counter No. 1 where the platform tickets sold. He took the letter and given me 2076 Rs. This was happened on 14th December, 2010. The counter of commercial TC is located at right hand side in main entrance. The counter no. 1 is located at the left hand side of the main entrance of Nampally Railway station. The time took me to take my money back was just 30 minutes.

I have wasted a lot of time to find out the correct procedure to take my money back. Initially I went to Secunderabad railway reservation counter and Secunderabad railway station one day. The station master of the Secunderabad railway station master told me that the letter was addressed to Hyderabad station master and asked me to meet him. I have visited rail nilayam many times to enquire about the same issue. There is no much information available at rail nilayam after submitting the tickets.

I am writing this information to help my blog readers to save much time when they face this type of situation. I trust time is money. Please do not waste it. Submit the ticket at rail nilayam when there is a situation like me and forget about it. The letter will come to home automatically after some months. Read the letter completely and understand the correct railway station. Visit the station and endorse it with commercial TC and take the money.
